Art Proposal

Proposed By: Benjamin Makowsky
Project Title: The World Through Many Eyes
Class: Senior Art Studio
Instructor: Ms. Miles
Project Due Date: 01/31/2011

Project Description:

There will be a series of 15 pieces of art, 5 of which will be photographs and 10 of which will be  hand drawn. Each of the 5 photo will be of different things but beneath each of the pictures will be two hand drawn variation of the same image in a different media. The entire piece will be hanging from a piece of wood or plastic.

Type of Work:

Architecture, Landscape

Concept:

I will be taking black and white images of buildings and scenery that I see interesting and then drawing duplicates of them. The duplicates will be full of color to contrast the black and white. The black and white images will have a high contrast to create a darker look to the image that the viewer will notice.

Vision:

I would like my viewer to see that everyone sees the world differently. That while they may view the world one way the person right next to them may see it entirely different.

Inspiration:

I was inspired to a series based on how people view the world because I am color blind and I have always wondered how other people the world. I have been inspired by such photographers as Marty Knapp and his black and white pictures that really seem to stand out to me for their contrast. I was also inspired by the work of my grandmother, Sonya Rood.

Equipment to be Used:

Lengths of wood, 3 mega pixel camera, acrylic paint, color pencil

Presentation

Images will be hung from a piece of wood using a thin wire of some sort. The pictures will an be hung from five points and below them the wire will continue to two hand done images, spaced a few inches apart. Each of the five strands will be hung at different levels for a variation.
