Dark Christmas- 13

The central idea behind this piece is that the world can be generally darker than a person may at first see. Everything in nature has a darker more subtle side that isn't what a person may expect. Through the use of black and white photography alongside shadow I have been able to capture the darkness in something generally merry. The shadows in the back of the photo up near the top add a more ominous feel to the photograph. The lighting of the plants makes it appear as though it is coming up through the shadows.

This image contributes to theme of the darkness of nature because of the darkness that it displays and the ominous feeling of it. My general idea of the image didn't change. The whole time the image was supposed to be dark but at first i was thinking of making the plant darker and the background lighter but I felt this captured what I was trying to display a lot better. From here i hope to continue this look through the rest of my pieces.
